I hate to see something like that ,there is no excuse for it.We raise our own meat here and we never have had anything like that,on all the farms and ranches I have been on they have treated the animals well…until they were butchered but even then it was quick and only what was necessary. Our chickens run around outside and are happy.
I’ve seen this before. Quite a few times actually. The way I see it though, is that these animals are raised for eating. Not to go be free and what have you. Yeah, I guess it’s cruel, but it’s really just the food chain in an extreme. Maybe I’m a heartless person for thinking so, but it’s life really. I have no problem with people being veggies and the like. But I don’t like when people try to push it on me. I like my meat. Sorry guys.
OMG! That is so horrible! Ahh I want to cry D:! That is so fucking horrbile errg!!!!
Wow… well that seriously has me considering going vegan
OMG!!!! Looks like I’m having a baked potato for dinner… if I can even stomach that. This is horrible!!! How can a person do that?!?!?! That is so sad.
terri is going to have a hard time with this. i do and i don’t even love chicken like she does.
Sorry Alex, but I ain’t givin’ up my meat. Besides, the several family run farms where I get my meats are all humane, 100%-organic run farms.
The main problem is the corporate-run places are more concerned with profit than compassion.
I like meat… I like chicken… this kinda thing happens no matter what. Do you think lions care how their dinner is prepared? No… they slaughter the enemy WHILE eatting it… WHILE its still alive…
Ugh. I had chicken tonight…
Oh yay, more people falling for good ol’ PETA propaganda. I loooove how the guy said “antibiotics” to spur growth. Uhm, no – antibiotics to try to keep them healthy. There is NO antibiotic that can make animals (or people) grow faster.
A friend of mine used to haul “meat on the hoof”: They have to stop every few hours and let the animals out to roam around. So there’s another outright lie.
Also note the overly-emotional language and the blatant anthropomorphasizing of the animals (that is: attributing human emotions and reactions to animals).
And most of PETA’s videos were made in the 1970s, and are wretchedly outdated. Nor do they state the source of any of their (so-called) “facts” about the animal meat industry.
They’re fanatics, and will use any means necessary to put you off that steak. Seriously. They are not wedded to the truth any more than any other fanatical organization.
That’s pretty terrible. The truth is that only a small portion of the population would be meat eaters if they had to slaughter their own animals. But because of industrialization and the need for cheap meat so that we can get fatter, this is what the industry is led to. I’ll be honest, I just cooked some chicken the other day and don’t feel guilty.
Damn, and I’m about to eat chicken right now
it just kind of makes me sick to my stomach, not wanting to eat those animals who don’t even look healthy. Ick.
PETA is bullshit. They criticize the meat industry for slaughtering animals while PETA personnel are euthanizing thousands themselves. Their own VP uses insulin shots derived from pigs, yet that’s okay. Yeah, killing animals is gruesome. So is a killer whale eating a penguin. It’s life
My biggest issue with PETA is their opposition to animals being used for medical research. If they’d rather let thousands of humans die annually from curable diseases and new strains rather than use animals to help make medical breakthroughs, I don’t know if there’s a better definition for “misanthropy”.
Please pass the meat, you can have the veggies!
F-that shit! I can’t finish this thing.
this is so fucking sick i had to stop watching at the veal factory part. i hate seeing this stuff so much.
… i literally cried watching this. im glad im a vegetarian… this is absolutely horrible… aaah omfg…
No need to watch. I stand by my claim, ignorance is not bliss, it’s sanity.
Meh. I could go for some bacon and eggs right now….
peta….
When I was a kid my dad raised cattle and I grew up eating beef. My grandmother also had a farm and we had fresh eggs and yes fresh chicken – I’ve seen more than one chicken’s neck’s wrung. We grew our own veggies too so lots of good food on the table. But that was then and this is now and although I prefer “range free” chicken and eggs etc. – sometimes it’s not possible to get it so even with the knowledge of the video (I’ve seen it before) – ya gotta eat.
Also I eat deer meat a lot when I have it – People who are against hunting should be the ones watching that video.
Good Post!
I am not disturbed. I’ll still have chicken tonight and veal is yummy.
@GemoxCore - Exactly and PETA being the extremist that they are picks and chooses what they want for their videos. Most farmers do not treat their animals this way even if they aren’t labeling their meat cruelty free, free-range or whatever. They want to make a profit so they are not going to do anything to make their animals sick, stress them, beat them, or anything else that would ruin the taste of the meat and therefore decrease their profit. If you are heartless so am I.
It used to piss me off when I coudln’t find a vegan cookbook withoout PETA being involved with it.
@QuantumStorm - As far as animal research goes, I say the PETA freaks should go in their place. I am sorry use cell-lines…cell-lines are single cells and don’t have the complex organ systems that people have.
BLAH..I’ll end my rant.
I have trouble feeling sorry for something that only has the destiny of winding up on my plate.
OH NO! You mean the animal they’re gonna kill for my chicken dinner isn’t being treated like a king before we kill it? You people are ridiculous sometimes.
PETA will use any tactic they can to persuade people off meat including using old footage, and outdated info (Kinda like the anti-cigarette people in the TRUTH commercials). I’ve reached the point where if PETA says it, I believe the opposite.
Honestly, I really don’t care how humane my food is treated.
I have watched my friend IN PERSON slaughter animals for his dinner. I most recently watched him bleed a goat that he purchased. Meaning hanging it up by it’s hind leg in a tree and slashing it’s throat while it’s still alive so the heart pumps out all the blood before it dies. The next day I had that goat (and it’s kid) for dinner and it was delicious.
I have killed my own food, and slaughtered my own food.
A PETA propaganda video will not change my mind.
I couldn’t watch it all. It makes me too sad.
@Erika_Steele - PETA’s one of those organizations that’s too extreme for my liking. Yeah, do your animal rights whatever, but I’m never going to forget, I was visiting relatives in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and there was a story on the local news how PETA had euthanized 42 healthy dogs and left them in a dumpster behind a Food Lion. .___.
go PETA! fall to the reign of animal abusers! and I say “pah” to the people who claim it’s “part of the food chain and they don’t really care actually” because it’s just bliss in ignorance and hypocrisy… let me see you say that about me eating your pet dog or cat… really now.
I’m not likely to give up meat anytime soon, but I’d have to agree that this is really cruel… there are definitely more humane ways to treat livestock. However, because of the highly biased nature of this video, I’m pretty apprehensive about the validity and up-to-date-ness of its claims…I wished a credible source would report on this. I hate PETA, but that doesn’t mean I completely disagree with all of their stances.
While I believe that ignorance is bliss, I watched the whole video because I believe that to avoid knowledge for the sake of bliss is being selfish. We should not turn a blind eye to reality.
