Dear Snippie #22 (Shaving the naughty regions)
Question:
Most guys like it when a girl is shaved down there. I myself have tried it multiple times but each time it didn’t look so great down there a few days later. I mean, the first day its all nice and smooth and maybe the second day it will be too, but the third day those horrible hair bumps start to pop up and make your nether region not so pleasant to look at, and sometime those bumps will stay for at least a week or longer. So my question is this, how do you shave down there without getting those nasty hair bumps?Answer:
I know exactly what you’re talking about. The first day is great but after that hell happens. So waxing is an option. I have never gone there and probably never will. Trimming is good. I trim a lot. But nothing is better than a newly shaved vagina. So basically I have the same issues with bumps and don’t know an answer. Maybe the readers do. Cross your fingers!———–

oh wow am i first to comment?i shave this area if not daily then everyother day.I’m part scandanavian and yeah blessed to be hairy.
it’s just second nature for me now to shave my legs then there.do not use shaving cream but the same conditioner you use one your hair.It works great and leaves you nice and smooth.
Partial Brazilian waxing is best; it leaves a landing strip, just in case your man (or woman) has trouble getting lost
@BomCamChuoi - lol love it!
@javamommy - conditioner, interesting!
There is this stuff that they sale at novelty stores called “coochie”…it’s a soother to put on after you shave that prevents the unwanted little shaving bumps.
To be honest, I can’t see this area to shave right now so unless you’re of the forest, such as a monkey or a lion…just don’t go there.
Aaaah god, I don’t know how you can put something so sharp in such a sensitive area! I can barely even think about it, there’s just no way… *shiver*
I use an intuition razor. It has the conditioning stick built around the razor and it seems to do the best job. Using conditioner may be similar and possibly cheaper b/c the intuitions aren’t cheap.
I’ve used so many razors, and they have all made me have bumps down there, but recently I found a new razor and have no bumps! I LOVE it! It’s a Venus Breeze. It’s got shave gel bars attached to it, but I still use a little bit of shaving cream. I will never go back to the disposable razors ever again!
bikini wax!
Well, I have a question…..why bother shaving down there? I mean…Ok, so I don;t speak for my entire gender – but I totally prefer a non-shaven woman ANYDAY. I totally love the sight of it…the scent absolutely drives me WILLLDDDDD Geesh. That’s just my point of view. I think you’re probably just working way too hard. Mmmm……I absolutely love it…love it….love it =)
@javamommy - I totally agree in using conditioner. It truly helps.
I think a shaved vagina looks like a pre-puberty vagina. Besides, a good man wouldn’t care… although trimming is very nice.
hahaha that is so true, i was thinking maybe give my thing a sppecial haircut, when i do decide to be sexually active, but i do like it shaved lol
@javamommy - You’re totally right on the conditioner.. Since I started using it, I hardly ever have those little bumps.
Once I started, I could never go back!
@immanut - so you say you like an unshaven woman…are we talking totally wild or do you like it atleast tamed a little with a bit of trimming?
@javamommy - i shall have to try that…thanx for the insight!
@javamommy - wow it looks like we’re all going to be trying the conditioner. Thank you so much for this advice!
I use a small amount of Nair. My hair is too stubborn to just rub off, but it does as loosen the follicles. So, Nair and then using a shaving cream or a conditioner, I prefer the conditioner (I cut myself a lot with shaving cream for some reason) shave the rest.
THEN WASHING/RINSING VERY VERY WELL is the most important step. You don’t want Nair all stuck up in …. there.
@immanut - For me, it’s a comfort thing. I like being shaved down there because its more comfortable for me, and I feel so much cleaner during that wonderful time of the month.
I honestly don’t know the answer to this question…..I don’t shave, though. I use Sally Hansen Shower Off Hair Removal cream, and it stinks but works like a charm.
@baranorewen - I see…..well, HONESTLY, not trying to be gross or anything….but I totally love the natural scent of a woman. It drives me crazy. I agree that during uh, that time of month it’s great to have something to “pamper” yourself with, but other than that…..the female scent drives me nuts…………….
@i_am_her_teddy_bare - Totally wild and untrimmed……the wilder, the better
@immanut - All I do is shave, its not like I douche (ick), my man likes the scent too, it may mean it doesn’t permeate so much, but the scents still there – you just have to get closer to it.
@baranorewen - Well, for me…the scent and the feel works together – you know?
@immanut - Gotcha, I understand that. Though I disagree, I prefer smooth on a lover.
@baranorewen - very nice…its all in getting really close…lol
@baranorewen - That makes sense =) lol BTW, you’re TOTALLY gorgeous
I just noticed!!!!
@immanut - i can see how that would be a valid point…i can’t deal with the feel though…just a personal thing!
man, i didn’t know so much work went into this… yah — i guess trim would be the lowest maintenance. and then for special occasions when u think ur going to get some, maybe do a shave! or just shave every 2-3 days i guess. i shave every day… (for my face)…
My solution. I trim and in summer I get a bikini wax, because a wear a bikini and that much trimming can become tiresome, I don’t shave, it is not going to happen, the hair belongs there. And well Dan seems exceptionally happy with the arrangement, no matter what the season of the sun is. It seems I have no reason to change.
Shave quick, use lotion afterwards. (it never fails when i do it that way.)
Any of you women ever get sever rashes no matter what you try?
I shave. I like the way it feels and I always feel more “clean” while on my period and its hairless. Ahaha.
I always shave everyday or every other day.
Xo
Odd, yet funny!

Coochie is the best shave cream I’ve found. I use it everywhere and I’ve never felt my legs so soft, amazing. But it also definitely helps with keeping those annoying bumps at bay. I get it from my Slumber Party rep but I also know the Passion Parties carries it too, just not sure if it’s the same stuff.
@SnippiesBlog - i’ve found the coochie cream doesnt even work as well as the conditioner does.I tried it once but i still like the conditioner better.Great so now you all know ima baldy lmao
Have you ever heard of coochie? It’s sold by the people who do the slumber parties it’s a shaving cream. It really helps you get a really smooth shave and helps keep the bumps from getting to bad. every once in a while I get them, but not anywhere near what I used to.
I know it sounds strange, but try using a little bit of Dove deodorant after you shave. It’s not only to prevent sweat, but also to stop those little bumps from occurring on your underarm area too, so it works just the same. I use this trick and it works wonders for me. Just don’t use the same stick you use on your arms, because, well.. that’s a little gross.
@MeganBitesTM - wow, ive never heard that before. i’m gonna try that! thanks
i get ingrown hairs that turn into pimples. the most ive had is three at the same time. i guess cos i shave in opposite direction but if i shave the same way, it wont shave as well. sometimes i feel i shave too much (area wise)
@Pyrra - me too ughhhhh.
@me. - which part?
wow… lol, um… I think waxing gives the best results.
I got aggravated with the bumps and stopped shaving completely for awhile now. I’ve been trimming though, it’s lower maintenance and I don’t have to deal with the uncomfortable bumps. Though next time I shave I’ll have to try the conditioner.
Waxing is best if you can put up with the pain. Otherwise trim.
)
hey, thanks for the invite. that is an interesting subject. the guy i mess with like me to be shaved. so i only shave when he about to come over.
I have this problem too. I am in no means sexually active, but I shave down “there” because I wear bikini’s in the summer and bikini style panties that hair from there would slightly peak over, and that is just to uncomfortable for me. So I trim and then shave using Barbasol Beard Buster shaving cream with aloe. It is for men, but it is the best shaving cream I have EVER used for legs, underarms and down “there”.
I also refuse to use disposable razors, they are to easy to cut my self with. I use Bic Twilight or something like that.
I get bumps really bad, but they go away after a day or two, and I only have to shave about twice a month because hair doesn’t grow very fast there and I am blonde.
Too much info, I know.
big ass jungle fro vagina doesn’t appeal to me, and since it’s my vagina, i shave. i use aloe vera gel, and don’t get bumps.
Personally I hate it when women feel it necessary to make their genitalia look like it did when they were 13.
Now, i’m not saying they should let that thing grow wild, but I really miss the 70s-80s porn star look.
Trimmed, groomed, but still a predominant feature.
But then again… I’ve been called “old fashioned” many times before.

roll-on deodorant works well as an..aftershave? ahaha. put it on after and it helps prevent ingrown hairs.
Tend Skin, for those ingrown bumps.
@MeganBitesTM - never heard of that – might give it a try!
I trim, often. Gotta keep it nice and neat for the husband! Anyway, I’ve found that shaving in the direction the hair grows FIRST to get it nearly gone, and then going against the grain helps me out. A bump here or there occasionally, but for the most part, BUMP FREE!
The vaginal area isn’t sexy when it has a rash and is reddish with bumps. So why even shave it? I use the trimmer, but I wouldn’t consider taking all the hair off? I just take off the bikini line area.
and the first five comments were hilarious
I like the “landing strip” (or a “racing stripe” as I like to call it!) on my lovers but I have a number of friends who prefer to shave completely and do touch up work every day. Seems like a lot of work but I shave my shaft as needed to keep it smooth too.
use non-scented lotion instead of shaving cream. or wax, but i’ve never tried.. it’s a kind of pain i don’t think my vagina is willing to take.
DO NOT SHAVE EVERY DAY
1. Wash with non-moisturizing soap (such as Irish Spring or Lever 2000), then
2. Apply men’s sensitive skin shaving gel (I prefer Gillette), then
3. Shave with a fine razor (either the mach 3 or quattor), then
4a. Apply men’s aftershave balm (again, I prefer Gillette), or
4b. Apply St. Ives hand moisturizer (if you also want a beautiful scent).
Shave twice a week and only increase frequency if bothersome stubble appears before the half-week mark.
No matter what I do, I still get really painful ingrown hairs (i’m black = thicker hair) so shaving’s not an option.
So instead I just trim it often. If whoever I’m with only likes it bald, then that’s not my problem because it’s MY vagina.
=p
Besides vaginas are awesome in all sorts of shapes and sizes, hairy and non hairy.
I just don’t see how anyone could have a preference for just one type of vagina… but I guess that’s just me?
Thanks for the adding.I have the same problem too. Plus when I shave my “hair”,it’d start growing after few days and the new hair is much thicker.I really hate that!!!!!!
i’m 20 and asian… no past or present relationship with the opposite sex at all… i don’t shave or trim… should i start now?
because i’ve never considered it before and all this talk is making me self conscious…
Very interesting blog!
@javamommy - Conditioner..why the hell didn’t I think of that? Thanks for the advice!
@Blue__Summer - lol i swear by it.like i said i’m blessed in the hair deparment been shaving my legs since i was 9 years old!!!!eek
@Stibium - it’s just like the hair on your legs once you start shaving it it’s gonna come back more and thicker.it sucks yeah but if you put it into part of your daily routine it doesnt take that much longer.
I like the shaved look, but only when I am looking. I prefer hair whem I make love. Of course, I have a bald head fetish. I think about shaving a lover’s head when I make love.
yeah i do it because its most comfortable too. (but if anyones reading this, i put up an entry that i kinda need some advice on!)
Conditioner is your friend.
Waxing is the only way to go! Yes it does hurt/sting in the beginning, however I no longer have to worry about it. I’ve been waxing since age sixteen…no more folicles are left. I couldn’t grow anything. much less a landing strip if I tried!
I don’t shave my happy place. I first cut the hair as low as possible, then I wax the rest of it. I do it that way so the waxing won’t hurt as much. I also use feminine wash, it keeps my happy place smelling good even when I break wind or urinate. Hehe, it also keeps underarms from smelling bad, when it’s hot.
No idea…
A company called Pure Romance has a product called ‘Coochy” IT is absolutely fantastic! Its a shaving cream that is wonderful, i use it every time i shave down there and after using it once or twice it makes the hair softer, easier to shave, and gets rid of the red bumps!!
I used to shave but I wasn’t satisfied with the results. Then, when I moved from a colder climate to a warmer one where bikini wearing can occur at just about any time, I realized I need to seek alternatives. I found a great wax place this summer and I haven’t looked back. The first couple of times were a little painful but I pop a couple of extra strength tylenol about 30 minutes before my appt and it dulls the pain a bit. I also picked up two products to help prevent and treat ingrowns:
PFB Vanish — breaks down skin cells b/c it contains Salicylic Acid (the stuff that treats acne) so that when hair grows back it doesn’t get stuck.
Smile’s PRID All Natural Drawing Salve — I still get ingrowns, but when I pull them out, I apply this salve to make sure all the crap inside the follicle gets flushed out to avoid infection.
By the way, I started with a simple bikini wax just so I could wear a bikini in short notice. After the first 2 or 3 appointments I decided to take it all off leaving just the landing strip. It definitely feels much better!
@SunshineMI - how much do you pay if you don’t mind me asking?
@Pyrra - Um, when I get both bikini & arch I think I’m paying like $70 or something like that…
@SunshineMI - whats the arch shave?
@Pyrra - Oh, my eyebrow arch, I meant. Sorry, jargon in my head today.
