Dear Snippie #16 (Military Humor)
Question:
My boyfriend is recently back from serving in Iraq for 18 months we’re not trying for a baby now but would like to in the future. The problem is he always teases me that he could be sterile because of the shots and all that the military gives him. I just wanna know should i be worried that we can’t have kids in the future cause of this? or is he just messing with me?Answer:
No it’s not true. Have you seen how many military brats there are out there? I don’t think you need to be worried. My x-husband was in the army and he would tell me to be worried that our baby was going to come out with missing limbs. Not cool right? I think its just rumors that the men talk about when they’re given these strange drugs and don’t know what they are.———–
Your turn to answer Xanga!
Don’t forget to keep the sex questions coming. Message them to me and find out what everyone thinks without them knowing its you!

hey rumor or not, I alwyas tried to weasel my way out of taking those shots when I was in the army.
*waves* Air Force brat right here …
Yeah those are just rumors
@BarelyJen - Army brat here. Former Army too. The shots sucked. Big time. Seriously big time. But, as my three children will attest to, no sterility here.
I can’t speak for every man…..but it didn’t affect my husband. My husband and I had three children WHILE he was in the Marine Corps (got pregnant with twins after he came back from South Korea). Soooooo…..I’m thinking he’s just messing with you.
My mother’s father was in the Navy, and my dad and his father were in the Air Force. If that rendered them sterile I wouldn’t exist.
They’re better be false!! I just got those freaking shots..
Nope, no worries, at least about the shots.
My husband works in fuel, and comes into contact with jet fuel on a daily basis, and that COULD have some affects on their little sperm.
I’m always worried about that.
Coastie Brat, here! And military members have babies all of the time!!
And they are usually beautiful healthy babies.
There are studies that military members had fertility issues after the first gulf war. You should do some research. Things are quite the way they used to be. Nowadays, after a big deployment, there’s always this huge baby boom in about 9 months
My sweetie served in Iraq, so I occasionally worry about this. Then again, one of the guys he served with got his wife pregnant when he was trying desperately NOT to (they were having long stretches of fighting punctuated by short bursts of make-up sex), so I guess, logically speaking, there’s really nothing to worry about.
upsetting that they ARE given shots, and they have no clue what they’re being injected with
Oh, there’s nothing to worry about. I was in the Navy and we didn’t joke about the random drugs we were given, but more about the nuclear powerplant pushing us around. A buddy of mine who didn’t want kids made the joke ‘I’m going to go back in the engine room and drop my nuts right on the reactor for an hour or two.’ Not actually possible, but still funny. An interesting side effect? Most submariners from nuclear subs have female children, just barely above the ‘it might be random’ threshold. I had a chief who had 3 daughters and 1 on the way, they kept trying because he wanted a son so bad! Damn flying neutrons…
@Niolin - hmmm interesting my ex was in the nukes on a submarine and we had 5 kids 3 boys 2 girls.would’ve loved mor girls bu wouldnt trade my boys for the world
I have no idea, but by the looks of these comments, I feel that u are Okay! M
@javamommy - Well, I only said it was statistically significant, not that it was always the case. I guess you two are just (un)lucky?
@Niolin - oh no i know what you were saying. not looking to pick a fight here lol
Haaaaha. I didn’t even know that shots were given. 0_o Then again..i’ve never really known anyone in the military.
Military Brat right here! So I can vouch for both your’s and apparently my Dad’s…uhh….accuracy on this point LOL
